We reached many significant milestones in the year, including helping ASDA with its aspiration to become the first UK retailer to achieve zero waste to landfill.
Within the workplace, we’ll build
on our culture of Health & Safety, where we reduced workplace injuries by approximately 40% in 2010.
We’ll also continue with our culture of open-mindedness where everyone’s different skills and experiences are celebrated. We want to make Veolia ‘a great place to work’.
We employ almost 12,000 people across the UK and recognise the importance of our employees’ wellbeing. Further, we make a point of recognising the loyalty, dedication and performance of our employees, through such programmes as business excellence and long-service awards.
In the community, we are committed to being ‘a good neighbour’ and, as part of this, we encourage all our employees to take advantage of their half-day volunteering opportunity.
In addition to this, we have chosen Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales, to be our company charity partner of the year. We aim to raise £100,000 and support them with their vision of creating a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all, and treats people with experience of mental distress fairly, positively and with respect.
We’re also aiming to get our employees more involved with The Veolia Environmental Trust, to encourage support and volunteering on projects that help to improve the local environment and communities.
